IN CASE WE HAVN'T MEET...
I'm Donald Burns, The Restaurant Coach®
My journey in the restaurant industry mirrors that of many others—a path from the kitchen sink to the chef's hat. I started from the ground up, working various restaurant roles, from washing dishes to serving tables and mixing drinks.
At the age of 25, I took a significant step forward, becoming a chef—a pivotal moment that set the stage for my future. By the time I turned 30, I ventured into opening my first restaurant. However, the road was far from smooth, as it didn't enjoy immediate success. This prompted me to seek guidance from a business coach.
Under the mentorship of my business coach, I absorbed invaluable principles that would later shape my signature TRC Method™. Armed with newfound knowledge and determination, I took the plunge and opened my second restaurant at 33. This time, with robust frameworks in place, the restaurant thrived, achieving $2.2 million in revenue with an impressive 22% profit margin.
After seven years of restaurant ownership, I decided to embark on a new journey. I joined celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck to assist in expanding his restaurant and catering empire, making a significant impact in shaping the culinary landscape for five years.
Intrigued by coaching and inspired by my own journey, I ventured into entrepreneurship with my first consulting company. However, the crash of 2008 marked a turning point. Frustrated by the realization that many of my consulting clients were not utilizing the tools and guidance I provided, I sought the expertise of another business coach.
It was during this period that the "lightbulb" moment struck—what if I combined my extensive restaurant knowledge with coaching principles? In 2009, I became a certified Executive Coach, merging my restaurant frameworks with coaching methodologies, thus giving birth to The Restaurant Coach® Brand.
Over the last 14 years, I've meticulously refined my systems into a series of frameworks that empower aspiring restaurant coaches to help struggling establishments rise from mediocrity to excellence. My mission? To impact one million independent restaurants globally, guiding them to achieve the success they deserve.
